Udupi, Jul 28: Forest officials, on Thursday July 29 at Athradi, managed to catch a leopard that gave sleepless nights to people in the Hiriadka area.
The female leopard aged about five years, used to disturb people and domestic animals in the area. The forest officials who were tracking the movements of the leopard could not catch it till now. The trap they kept was not of help as the leopard did not visit the trap. But they were optimistic. On the night of Wednesday, the leopard entered the trap and got locked inside.
Forest officials Naresh from Hiriadka, Ramesh from Udupi and staff Manohar were part of the operation. Presently the leopard is still lodged at Hiriadka forest office premises and it will be taken to a place as per the instructions by the forest officials from Bengaluru.
