Bengaluru, Jul 29: Police personnel of criminal investigation department (CID), who are investigating second PU question paper leakage scandal, have stumbled upon information that BJP leader and former minister, M P Renukacharya, happens to be a close friend of kingpin of question paper leakage, Shivakumaraiah.

Sources in the department said that they could not establish any business association between the two, but they had friendship that did not have anything to do with the question paper leakage. Therefore the officials have left a decision over the necessity to subject former minister to investigation to the discretion of higher officials.

The CID came to know link between the two on the basis of cellphone calls of Shivakumaraiah. They also learnt that Shivakumaraiah was also into real estate and other activities. Because of this, he has friends among government officials and political circles, many of whom have benefitted out of this acquaintance. As per information, over 500 people figure in the list of friends of 'Quesion Paper King'.
