Kasargod: Lorry goes haywire, hits tree - results in driver's death

Kasargod, Jul 30: In an accident which occurred at Mailati near here on national highway 66 on Friday July 29, the driver of a lorry lost his life. The lorry in question went out of control of the driver, moved erratically and hit a tree before tumbling.

The deceased driver has been identified as Sunil from Maharashtra state. His assistant in the truck, identified as Laxman, suffered serious injuries. He is being treated at a hospital.

The truck was carrying a load of tyres to Kochi from Gujarat, when it tumbled. Both the driver and his assistant had got stuck under the fallen truck. Both could be taken out only after the truck was moved aside with the help of a crane.

Both were taken to hospital but Sunil did not respond to treatments. A case about the accident was registered at Vidyanagar police station here.
