Puttur, Jul 30: Bhaskar Gowda (28), son of late Medappa Gowda, resident of Patna in Kodimbala village near Kadaba in the taluk was electrocuted on Friday July 29. He was trimming the tree branches in his farm when he was violently jolted by electric shocks.

Bhaskar had used an aluminium ladder to reach to the full height of the tree and trim its branches of excessively grown leaves when he accidentally came in contact with a high tension power line passing nearby. He fell down from the ladder due to electric shocks and became very ill. He was taken to Kadaba community health centre and then to Puttur for advanced treatment. But he breathed his last before reaching Puttur.

Bhaskar was working as a tanker driver at Mangaluru. To attend to agricultural work of the family, he took a few days off and came home. He is survived by his mother, two brothers and a sister.

A report about this unnatural death was recorded at Kadaba police station.

President of the taluk Agricultural Produce Market Committee here, Krishna Shetty Kadaba, who visited Kadaba community health centre where postmortem was conducted, said that the family of Bhaskar is eligible to receive compensation of one lac rupees under Raita Sanjeevini insurance scheme as he accidentally died during agriultural operations.

Mescom assistant executive engineer, Suresh Kumar, Kadaba revenue inspector, Koragappa Hegde and several other dignitaries also visited the hospital and family of the deceased.
