As per details available, the boat belonging to Annu from Hoige Bazar in city had left for deep sea fishing three days back from Malpe. It was returning to city while the tragedy took place. When the boat capsized, fisherman Manex reached the shore by swimming. Fayaz, a social worker from Ullal known for his Samaritan activities, jumped into sea and rescued another fisherman Kumaran and brought him back to the shore. While he was searching for Chandran, his head hit a rock and he died due to the injuries sustained.

Chandran is yet to be found.

Coast Guards have started the rescue operation. A helicopter has also been deployed for the rescue operation, which is being done for the first time in the region.

More details are awaited.
