Kundapur, Aug 6: Villagers in Konki and nearby places held protests here on Saturday August 6 urging repair of road connecting Konki, Badakere, Nada and Gudde hotel area in Nada gram panchayat limits. The road was constructed eight years ago but now the temporary road is also not visible.

Around 500 to 600 families living in this area have to struggle hard to travel on the road that is in poor condition. It has made life miserable for 300 to 400 students who use the road to travel to distant schools and colleges.

No vehicles can be driven on the road that is in pitiable condition. Though there is an alternative road, that road passes through forest and isolated area. Villagers are worried about the safety of female students using that road.

MLA K Gopala Poojary who arrived at the place of the protests, received a petition from the protesters and assured that the Konki Badakere Gujjadi road will be repaired as soon as possible. The funds from Zilla panchayat, MLA and MP’s funds and funds from gram panchayat will be utilized, he said.

Villagers submitted a petition to gram panchayat president John after the protest.
