Ty Burrell helps raise funds for foster children

Los Angeles, Aug 8 (IANS): “Modern Family” star Ty Burrell brought his star power to good use when he helped raise funds for foster children.

Several stars came together on Saturday night in support of Kids in the Spotlight‘s (KITS) inaugural “Cocktails for a Cause" hosted by Burrell, reports variety.com.

Founded in 2009, KITS is a non-profit organisation that introduces the art of filmmaking to foster children and other marginalised youth in the Los Angeles area.

Held at the private home of executive producer and writer of “The Big Bang Theory” Lee Aronsohn, guests such as Burrell, Mo McRae (“Empire”), Aisha Hinds (“True Blood”) and Malcolm-Jamal Warner (“The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story”) were seen enjoying custom cocktails and Louisiana cuisine by the poolside.

Attendees also bid on a variety of items through the event's silent auction, ranging from artwork created by children in the programme to a director's chair signed by the cast of the hit TV show “24”.

Burrell, who has long been a supporter of KITS, noted the difference he has seen in many of these children since joining the organisation.

Burrell said: “In terms of (their) self-esteem, there has been so many success stories for these kids. The main focus (of this organisation) is to give these kids a voice, who have been marginalised by society.”
