Navaneeth stayed glued to crime detective television serials
Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)
Udupi, Aug 9: People who knew Navaneeth Shetty, accused of killing his father, Bhaskar Shetty, closely, say that crime thrillers or crime detective stories like the CID beamed by Hindi channels were close to his heart. He was seen watching such serials regularly, they say.
Such programmes contain information on how to commit crimes in a way so as to avoid getting caught by law-enforcing agencies, how to escape from legal wrangles etc. Perhaps inspired by the serials, he planned to kill his father and ensure that there is no trace of mortal remains.
'Body should not be found' theory
At the same time, Navaneeth has no previous criminal record. After murdering his father, the car was reportedly brought near the rear door and the body was placed into it as taking it by the front door would have attracted people's attention.

Perhaps, the plan to burn the body was hatched as he knew that conclusion of murder can be arrived at only if the body is found. In all likelihood, he would have been aware of cases in which courts hesitated in treating incidents of death as murder if the body is not found. For that the family would have sought help from Niranjan Bhat. The burnt remains would have been thrown into the river, which perhaps were washed away by water.
There is information that when carrying the body of Shetty after murder, the registration number of the car was changed, and after the task was completed, the original number was displayed again.
