Mangaluru, Aug 9: National Green Tribunal's principal bench at New Delhi refused to re-transfer the case pertaining to Yettinahole project to Chennai as requested by the state government. Therefore, the hearing into the case will resume there on Tuesday August 8.

As soon as the case came up for hearing on Monday, advocates for the state government as well as Karnataka Neeravari Nigam Ltd sought re-transfer of the case to Chennai. It may be recalled that the case was transferred to the principal bench at the request of the petitioners on account of problems encountered there. The judicial representative of the bench at Chennai had retired on superannuation, and expert member had taken voluntary retirement, necessitating transfer of the case to the other bench where the case would have to be presented in its entirety once again.

Somashekhar, one of the petitioners opposing Yettinahole project execution, wondered as to why the state government is worried over transfer of the case to New Delhi.
