Puttur, Aug 9: A tanker carrying gas belonging to HPCL Company fell into Kumaradhara River at around 3 pm on Tuesday, August 9. There was no casualty.
The accident happened at Udane in Shiradi village near Uppinangadi when the driver of the tanker applied brakes to avoid an accident on the bridge. The bullet part the tanker fell into river while the engine is part on the road.
Rishyanth, Puttur additional superintendent of police has informed that water from the river should not be used for the next 6 to 8 hours.
Fire and emergency services have reached the place.
Electricity connection in the area has been disconnected. As the liquid petroleum has been leaked into the river, Puttur municipality has been told not to lift water from Nekkilady until further orders.
The traffic on the road has been totally affected.
