Mangaluru, Aug 9: Bharatiya Janata Party of Mangaluru South and North Assembly Constituencies protested against Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) alleging a total failure of administration. The protest was held in front of Mangaluru City Corporation on Tuesday August 9.

Addressing the protest, leader of the opposition in city corporation, Roopa D Bangera said, “From the past three years, people have not been able to see any substantial development works. Recently, the Urban Development minister visited the city but he failed to hold progress review meeting on the development works instead he left the city by hearing the complaints. People of the city are facing acute scarcity of drinking water. Congress has lost its control on administration.”

“People of city are facing drinking water problem and traffic problem. City Corporation has failed to take proper initiative to deal with these things. The traffic system has worsened in city. Instead of concentrating on development works, Congress led MCC is busy laying foundation stones for new projects for the sake of publicity,” she said.

Corporator Premananda Shetty speaking on this occasion said, “Though it is monsoon season, several wards in the city are facing drinking water problem. People are suffering and Mayor, along with the standing committee chairman, is silent on this issue. MCC is not using the state fund or the tax money properly for the development of city.”

He added, “People are not coming to MCC to get licence and certificates now. These works are carried out through brokers.”

Corporator Tilak Raj also spoke on the occasion. Monappa Bhandary, Sathyajith Surathkal, Brijesh Chowta and others were present.
