Bengaluru: College student crushed by KSRTC bus

Bengaluru, Aug 10: In a tragic accident which occurred at Banashankari in the city on Monday August 8, a college student was killed after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus knocked him down and he came under its wheels.

The deceased has been identified as Shivashankar (20), a student of government first grade college at Banashankari second phase. On Monday morning, he was proceeding to college in a motor bike from his house at Tilaknagar, Jayanagar sixth block, when tragedy struck. When he was taking a turn towards the college gate, he was hit by a KSRTC bus that was moving towards market from Kanakapura. Once he fell to the road, the front wheel of the bus crushed his left leg and hand. The students immediately rushed him to a hospital but in spite of best efforts of doctors he could not be saved.

A case about the incident was registered in Banashankari traffic police station.

Angered by the incident, students held protest near Yadiyur tank, saying that the college area is prone to accidents as there is no signal near the premises.
