Udupi, Aug 11: Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra, arrested in the murder case of businessman Bhaskar Shetty, were produced in the CJAM court here on Thursday August 11.
Srinivas Bhat, father of the accused Niranjan Bhat, and Raghavendra, a companion, were arrested on Wednesday August 10 on charges of destruction of evidence.
The court remanded both in judicial custody till August 24.
Interestingly, the police vehicle that brought both the accused was parked outside the court premises. It is surmised that the police had planned to take the accused inside through the back door to avoid media glare, but as media persons had assembled at both front and rear entrances, the police finally took them inside through the front entrance.
Meanwhile, police sources said that the piece of bones found in the river at Palli have been sent to a forensic lab in Bengaluru.
Niranjan Bhat, who is admitted to Manipal hospital after having swallowed a diamond stone from his finger ring and an ear stud, is out of danger and recuperating.
Police sources said that further course of action in Niranjan's case will be decided after the doctor's report is out. If a surgery was needed to remove the stud and the diamond from his body, it is likely that he may be confined to hospital for a few more days.
