Mangaluru, Aug 12: A fisherman named Ramanayya (49), lost his life after he accidentally slipped from a fishing boat and drowned in the sea. This tragic incident occurred late night on Wednesday August 10.

Ramanayya, who belongs to Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, was working for fishing steel boat, 'John Antony', owned by Harry D'Souza from Permannur. The boat had left the old Bunder dock here for fishing on the evening of August 3 with ten fishermen including Ramanayya and his son, Tirupathi.

It is said that at midnight on Wednesday, Ramanayya and other fishermen were spreading the fishing net when a huge wave violently rocked the boat, as a result of which Ramanayya lost balance and fell into the sea. Three fishermen from the boat immediately plunged into the sea, found Ramanayya, and brought him out of water. However, by then, a large quantity of water had entered Ramanayya's stomach, and his condition was critical. He breathed his last soon after.
