Mangaluru: Student travelling by train falls down, loses life

Mangaluru, Aug 17: A student of a college in the city, who routinely commuted from his hometown in Kerala by train, died after falling down from the train on Tuesday August 16.

Sharon (19) from Cheruvathur, Kerala, was a student of St Aloysius College here. Sharon, a second year BCA degree course student, used to attend college every day by using train as means of travel, it is learnt. Sources said that the tragedy occurred when Sharon, who was standing near the door as was his practice, suddenly lost his balance and fell down from the train near Thokkottu, Ullal.

Sharon has left behind his parents and a brother. A case relating to the incident was registered at railway police station.

    It is high time Indian Railways upgrade the bogies to the International Standard. The suspension springs need improvement so that the train will not roll and shake while speeding. The doors of the bogies should automatically shut while the train is in motion. The toilets need improvement and the trains are lacking cleanliness inside due to various reasons. One of the culprit is messy food and liquid beverages served inside. They spill over and left unattended.

    While I fully agree with your comment, may I add to it....

    and most of the dirty Indians be trained to cleanup the mess and stop eating paan and spitting.

    Incidentally I once read an article which states India as a big spittoon, couldn't help but agree to that either.
