ACB carries out searches at DCW office

New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS): A team of the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi government on Thursday carried out searches at the office of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) following a complaint by a Congress leader that it was indulging in illegal practices.

The ACB action came on a complaint filed by Delhi Congress leader Barkha Singh Shukla, a former DCW head, with the agency on August 12.

In her complaint, Shukla alleged that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders were appointing their associates to the DCW and giving them financial benefits from the Delhi government.

She has named Prabhsahay Kaur, daughter of senior AAP leader H.S. Phoolka, Advisor to DCW Raj Mangal Prasad, and 83 others as beneficiaries.

All the names have been obtained through an RTI inquiry, the Congress leader claimed and demanded a detailed inquiry in such activities.

Meanwhile, following the ACB raids at her office, a senior DCW functionary told IANS, "A few ACB officers came to the office around 11.30 a.m. today (Thursday)."
