Kundapur, Dec 4: The BJP-JDS coalition government brought disrepute to the state due to politics of opportunism, said Siddaramaiah, ex-deputy chief minister.
He was speaking after inaugurating the conference of Congress workers of Byndoor Block Congress Committee.
It is the time when public rose to the occasion and raised the banner of awareness and revolt against rank opportunism, he added.
He further urged them to arrange for such rallies and conferences in other parts of the Udupi District.
Krishna Bhaire Gowda, ex-MLA and president of State Youth Congress Samiti as a part of the programme, launched the campaign for enrolment of members to the Congress party.
Vinay Kumar Sorake, ex-MP felicitated the newly elected gram panchayat presidents and vice-presidents. Gopal Poojary made the felicitation speech as well as the introductory speech.
M A Gafoor presided over the programme. Earlier an impressive youth rally was undertaken by the organizers.
