Udupi, Aug 21: The police have arrested three more persons in connection with the murder of Praveen Poojary, a BJP activist, allegedly by Hindu Jagran Vedike workers, taking the total number of arrested accused to 21. On being produced the arrested persons, identified as Manjesh, Prateek, and Sudeep from Hebri in the court on Saturday, they too were remanded to judicial custody till August 31.

Kimmane Ratnakar visits family
Former state minister, Kimmane Ratnakar, visited the house of Praveen Poojary and met his father, Vasu Poojary, mother, Baby Poojary, brother, Javeen Poojary, sister, Prameela, and Prameela's husband, Prasad. He consoled the members of the bereaved family.
During the visit, Prameela felt that the killers of her brother should be given death sentences.
Ratnakar opined that a detailed investigation has to be carried out about the persons and organizations who conspired for this murder, and see that justice is done to Praveen Poojary's family. The family is staring at a huge burden of debt in the form of housing loan, business loan, and loan raised for the marriage of Prameela. It hopes to receive good compensation from the government.
Former Karkala MLA, Gopal Bhandary, taluk panchayat member, Dr Suneetha D Shetty, and man others had accompanied the former minister.
In the meanwhile, Brahmavar block Congress committee has organized a public protest near Brahmavar bus stand at 4 pm on Monday August 22.
