Udupi, Aug 21: The block Congress members staged a protest by tying black ribbon on their arms in front of Clock tower near service bus stand condemning Praveen Poojary murder and demanded immediate action against culprits on Saturday, August 20.

Narasimha Murthy, president, town planning authority addressing the protesters said, “After seeing this brutal incident, we should be aware of what’s happening in our surroundings. The Central government has been discussing many issues so far but not taken any action against BD activists for taking law in their hands in the name of cow protection.”

“Modi also expressed about this issue and he himself is unaware of fake cow protectors. No one bothers about transporting cattle which gives us rich milk. If a cow grows old, it is sold to slaughter houses. Such issues were never discussed before.”

“Being Congress party activists, we also protect cows. The protection of cow is not only BJP and Sangh Parivara’s work,” he said.

“Bajrang Dal activists are harassing poor and innocents in the name of cow vigilance. The only purpose of these activists is to disrupt peace. Now the activists of Bhajrang Dal unit from BJP are trying to take law into their own hands,” he alleged.

Murthy also added: “India stands first in beef export. This index is alarming in nation. Congress youths still have spirit in their blood to fight against illegal activities.”

Condemning Poojary murder, Satish Amin Padukere, president of block Congress said, “BD activists killed an innocent youth in the name of cow protection. They are spoiling the social fabric with such heinous crime. The murderers of Poojary should get severe punishment and the group should be declared as ‘terrorist organization’”.

Amrit Shenoy, senior leader, Harish Kini, Nagesh Udyavar, Dinesh putran, Jyothi Hebbar, Chandrika Shetty, Meenakshi MAdhav Bannanje and others were present.
