Return by Sep 25 or make own arrangements: Swaraj to Indian workers

New Delhi, Aug 23,(PTI) : External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today appealed to the Indian workers, who have lost their jobs in Saudi Arabia, to return to India by September 25 failing which they have to make their own arrangements for boarding, lodging and return journey.

"@Gen_VKSingh visited Saudi Arabia twice to resolve the problems of Indian workers rendered unemployed due to closure of companies there.

"My advice to all such Indian workers is that they should file their claims and return home by 25th September 2016. We will bring them back free of charge.

"Those who do not return by 25th September will have to make their own arrangements for boarding, lodging and return journey," Swaraj said in a series of tweets.

This is the minister's second appeal to Indian workers. Earlier on Sunday, she had said when Saudi government settles with the companies which have closed down, the dues of the workers will also be paid, asserting that settlement of claims will take time and that there was no point in waiting in Saudi Arabia indefinitely.

Earlier this month, Minister of State for External Affairs V K Singh had rushed to Saudi Arabia after large number of Indian workers sought Indian government's intervention in taking up their difficulties with the Saudi authorities.

He had also gone to Saudi Arabia last week to resolve the matter. The Saudi government, then, had agreed to swiftly resolve plight of the laid-off Indian workers including providing them free passage to return to India and clearing their unpaid dues.

Thousands of Indian workers have lost their jobs due to slowdown in Saudi economy, triggered by low oil prices and cut in spending by the government. The three worst affected companies are Saud Oger, Saudi Bin Laden and Saad group.

The Indian government had requested the Saudi authorities to give the unemployed Indian workers exit visas without NoC (No-Objection Certificate) from employers and also urged it to clear the dues of workers who have not been paid for months, whenever they settle the accounts with the companies concerned.

As per rules, no foreign employee can leave the country without NoC by the employers.
The Saudi government also agreed to allow transfer of Indian employees, who have lost their jobs, to any other company within Saudi Arabia.

As per rules, foreign employees cannot change jobs with permission of the company where they were employed.

Good comment Mr. Albert. nobody has forced them to go to that hot desert. They went there because they are unable to compete in career due to their poor merit & qualification. People who are working here are paying tax & contributing to our country both by working here & working for nation. Let them come back & work here, let them show their talent, let them compete. Government can give free education not job. Job is decided by one own capability & Knowledge.

I said only about Saudi & Gulf countries because only poor labour class people go there & treated badly which hurts our countries dignity, they have been treated like a low labour class category . Money exchange will come from other western & European or Japanese countries where our people has got good reputation & working in high designation like doctors, Engineers, scientist & so on. This countries are highly educated & civilized who knows to give mutual respect.

It is up to the workers to take her advise or leave it.... Any worker in Saudi can not travel home, without getting NOC from the employer`....After the deadline, if the employers become adamant, then the workers can not dream of coming home, and they will be trapped there, and they will be left at the mercy of employers.... So the workers, better to give Power of Attorney to Our Embassy to take care of their dues..... and travel back to home, since the Saudi govt has assured to get the exit visas , who want to return, without the consent of Employers....

Apart from shale oil, switch-over to electric & CNG, economic downturn, once dictator's (like Gadafi, Saddam etc., )have been replaced by moderate one's after arab spring. These dictator's used to sell oil only for their expenses and their closed one's and not for the common public. So Iraq, Iran, Libya and others which are also major oil producers are pumping oil in full swing because they have to take care of their people. So the countries which were the only source of oil in the region are feeling the pinch now. They had also made a union to keep the oil prices high, but it's not valid anymore after shale oil boom, technological advances in electric and CNG vehicles & entry of other countries in the region.

What is the contingency plan of the Central government for expatriate force who contributed to Indian economy?

Why did the Central government denied Kerala Tourism minister diplomatic passport?

Why there is no auditing of fees taken for every transaction from every expatriate in Indian Diplomatic mission?

NRI did not went there to contribute money to India. They went because they are unable to compete & get the job in India may be because of their poor qualification or merit. People who work here are contributing more for the nation by paying tax & working for the country in their soil. Nobody has forced them to go to that hot dry desert.

Labours will end up in big trouble if they come to India since no job secure. Saudi Govt. allows to switch the sponsor if they want to stay in KSA.
Politicians and Bhakts claim credits through social media for their own benefit and it doesn't benefit those who stranded.
Labours must think twice before take any decision of returning.

The highly plunged oil price which will be lasting for long and further plunging is highly possible, since the expatriate community of India is around 7 million people and a vast majority of them are being engaged in service and construction sector, India must be prepared to bring back a lot of them who can't afford to pay their airfare due to the lost job.

More than four decades back, the U.S. was consuming half of the oil produced in the world and the high percentage of the oil, probably 90% was imported. Now the U.S. consumption is only 25% of the world oil production, and the U.S. will be reaching the self-sufficiency in a hurry.

In 2005 65%, in 2010 55%, in 2015 28% and by 2020, it is anticipated to be 11% in the import index.

Since the world economy is not showing any sign of rebounding, the oil price will be going downward due to the declining demand around the world. On the other hand, the oil producing countries are in a competition to keep their market share and fighting each other. Due to the highly declined oil price, Russia is cutting down their military budget. Cutting down the expenditure everywhere in the world, especially in those once booming oil producing countries is a new reality yet to be faced with which nobody anticipated.

The tragic turn of events in Venezuela with her largest oil reserve of 300 billion barrels of oil in the world, their lack of food and basic need is very shocking to read.

Dear friend, the modern technological revolutions in the oil production is making the production of shale oil cheaper and that challenge will keep the oil price down.

How hard it is after living with Rs. 100000.00/ month budget to Rs. 35000.00 monthly budget? Now the car sales in Kerala is declining. Once, Kerala was the leading State in the nation in the luxury car sales like Rolls Royce-Audi-BMW-Benz etc.

The number of long range electric cars of over 200 miles range/charge from different car companies will be hurting the oil price further greater in the days to come. The heavy truck engines are going to be operated by natural gas, thus avoiding the glorious days of diesel. Thus the overall challenge towards the oil price booming is a bygone drama of history. Even the oil producing countries are planning to use more electric cars, what a great paradox?
