As public figure, you must face criticism: SC to Jayalalitha

New Delhi, Aug 24 (Agencies): The Supreme Court on Wednesday slammed Tamil Nadu CM J Jayalalitha for filing scores of defamation cases against political opponents, according to reports.

The apex court said that public figure must face criticism and can't use defamation case to throttle democracy.

The court also observed that "No other state misuses the state machinery like Tamil Nadu Government. Defamation cases can't be slapped for merely reporting on CMs health condition".

The court made these observations in connection with the DMDK chief A Vijaykanth who has sought the quashing of a defamation case filed against him by the Tamil Nadu government.

Details awaited.

I wish Our Politician's developed our country rather than Looting it from the day we got independence. every political party has been filled with corrupt leaders, From the top to the bottom, everybody is a thief. The irony of Indian Law is that if you are rich, political Leader or belong to any Political party, you can change the course of the law according to your wrong doings. When everybody knows that she has been involved in Corruption Case and also Jayalalithaa Sentenced to 4 Years in Jail. Still People worship her and treat her like God. looking at this i wonder if we will ever see the corrupt leaders get sentenced for their wrong doings.

    People,

J Jayalalita's acquittal by Justice Kumaraswami of Karnataka High Court, in corruption case is a historical judicial decision in the country...all law students in India should be taught in their college about this decision... so they know how justice is delivered in India...

Salman Khan acquittal need to be taught as well...

So the lawyers will know what to expect from judiciary...3rd pillar of Indian democracy...
