Bantwal, Aug 25: A backhoe (JCB) that was being transported by a tipper truck accidentally came in contact with high tension wires dangling from above on Wednesday August 24 evening. As powerful shocks jolted the vehicle, JCB driver suffered critical injuries. The accident occurred at Patladadda in Perla Beeyapade within Sarapadi gram panchayat limits in the taluk.

The injured driver happens to be Gurudath (25) from Hassan. Gurudath was travelling along with the JCB in a tipper truck, when the vehicle came in contact with high tension power lines dangling from above. Gurudath fell down due to the shock. The locals immediately carried him to a hospital in Mangaluru.

Villagers had time and again complained against Mescom, about the high tension cables dangling dangerously in the area, in gram sabhas. They said negligence of Mescom towards repeated complaints gave rise to this accident.
