Mangaluru, Aug 25: Srikrishna Janmashtami, was observed by Dakshina Kannada district administration in collaboration with zilla panchayat and Kannada and Cultural department at Town Hall here on Thursday August 25. Puttur MLA Shakunthala Shetty inaugurated the occasion.

After the inauguration MLA Shakunthala Shetty addressed the gathering. She said, "Shri Krishna gave several messages to society and there are lots of things one can learn from his life. Krishna is the protector of women. There is a saying that Krishna married 16,008 women, but in reality he rescued 16,008 women who were under arrest by the evil king. We are aware that injustices in the world against women are increasing. Let Krishna reincarnate to protect women. Moreover, in the present context people have discovered power, but though Krishna had won the battle against Kansa, he reinstated Ugrasena as a king of the Yadavs. In other instances too he never opted for power."

MLA Moideen Bava said, "Shri Krishna through his life showed how to live in unity and harmony. He mingled with everybody. We will ask chief minister to declare Srikrishna Janmashtami, as a public holiday in the coming days."

On this occasion ZP president, Meenakshi Shanthigodu, additional deputy commissioner, Kumar, ZP CEO Shrividhya, Kumble Sundar Rao, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura and others were present.
