Temples lit up for Janmashtmi celebrations in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Aug 25 (IANS): Attired in their very best, people thronged the attractively decorated temples to celebrate the festival of Janmashtami across Madhya Pradesh on Thursday.

Governor Ram Naresh Yadav and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wished the people on the occasion.

People were seen visiting the temples in the capital city Bhopal as well as other cities and towns since the morning.

Besides the special decorations at the temples, the idols of Lord Krishna have also been exceptionally well adorned. Devotional songs rent the air and although the birthday celebrations of Lord Krishna occur at midnight, devotees have already started filling the temples.

Tableaus depicting the birth of Lord Krishna have been put up at temples. Special rituals were also being performed at temples in Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior.
