Udupi, Aug 25: District Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and party workers met slain Praveen Poojary’s family and gave Rs 5 lacs at his house Kenjur near Kokkarne on Thursday, August 25.
Speaking to family members, former MLA Raghupati Bhat said, “BJP has lost an active member. Party members will put their best efforts to get justice to the family members. BJP intends to punish all so called Hindu Jagarana Vedike members who were behind Praveen’s brutal murder.”
“This case should be investigated from all angles. If it was planned murder, then there may be a chance of killing him for personal reason and not for cattle transporting. We the BJP activists have never seen such incidents before. Some of these so called cow vigilantes are misusing power in the name of BJP. We feel upset over the issue and the party has lost one of the active members.” Raghupati Bhat added.
Speaking on the occasion, Uday Kumar Shetty said, “We always stand by Praveen’s family in getting justice. He was dedicated to his party and its principles. Let us not politicize this news and focus on getting justice.”
Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar said, “The compensation amount will not lessen the pain of Praveen’s family, but as party workers, we want to share their pain. BJP party is with Praveen’s family always.”
District BJP activists were present on the occasion.
