Kundapur, Aug 26: Retired chief justice of Supreme Court and chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Justice H L Dattu, visited Spoorthidhama rural development and training society at Koteshwar near here on Thursday August 25 morning. He went through the home for the aged and adoption centre being run by Spoorthidhama and spoke to the concerned.

Justice Dattu was accompanied during the visit by NHRC secretary general, Satyanarayan Mohanty, deputy commissioner of Udupi district, T Venkatesh, deputy director in food and civil supplies department, Yogeshwar, deputy director of women and child welfare department, Gracy Gonsalves, Udupi tahsildar, Maheshchandra, deputy superintendent of police, Kumaraswamy and officer of the department of empowerment of persons with disabilities, Niranjan Bhat.

Justice Dattu also visited the childrens shelter for girls at Udupi, care centre, and Stree Seva Niketan on Wednesday and checked the facilities offered there. He also held discussions with the president of the local juvenile justice board about two children currently in the care centre. He expressed appreciation about the facility provided to 52 students in children's shelter. He also inspected a new building being constructed for the child care centre there.
