Stree Sangathan Kallianpur holds programme for women

Udupi, Aug 26: Mount Rosary Stree Sangathan organized 'Women's empowerment – the need of the Hour' programme at Mount Rosary Church Hall, Kallianpur on Sunday August 21 at 9.00 am.





























The programme began with a prayer song by Jevita and the other choir members of Mount Rosary. Hilda Cornelio, president, Mount Rosary Stree Sangathan and coordinator of the programme welcomed the gathering. Chief guest, Fr Anil Fernandes blessed the programme. Shaila A J, assistant general manager Syndicate Bank, regional office spoke on women's empowerment and the need of the hour. Fr Nelson Furtado, spiritual director, Varado, Dr Smita, professor, School of Management, Manipal University, Beena Lewis, treasurer, Stree Sangathan Kendra were also present at the programme.

Resource person of the programme Renu Jayaram, managing partner, Jayadev Motors spoke first. She spoke on how women can come out of their comfort zone and how to balance employment and family. The second to speak was Dr Gauri, paediatric consultant, Sonia Clinic on 'A mother and grandmother as counsellor for children and youth'.  She also talked on the physical growth of children in teenhood and how parents must make children aware about the physical changes in their body. The third speaker, Lumen Shawn Lobo, assistant professor, department of commerce shared ideas of employment opportunities for women, qualifications required and how to go ahead.

Clara Rego proposed the vote of thanks, Anita Quadros presented the programme. Around 150 - 200 people availed this benefit. The programme ended with lunch for the invitees.

The programme was in sponsorship with Syndicate Bank, Kallianpur and Rotary Club, Manipal Town, Manipal, Renu Jayaram, HDFC Bank, Manipal, Prasad Nethralaya, Udupi and Reena D’Souza.
