Udupi, Aug 26: “Ramya’s statement on Pakistani people has been blown out of proportion. She also has clarified many times including yesterday in Mangaluru about her remarks,” said state home minister Dr G Parameshwar who was in city on Friday afternoon of August 26.
He was speaking to reporters after he met Sri Pejawar Swamiji.
“Narendra Modi invited the Pakistan prime minister for his swearing-in ceremony. Modi also visited Pakistan after that. What is wrong if Ramya talks about Pakistani people? She went on behalf of India and she liked their hospitality. Cannot she talk at all?” Dr Parameshwar added.
Cow protection
Asked about Pejawar Swamiji’s statement on cow protectors after the brutal murder of Praveen Poojary, he said that he agreed that no one should resort to violence in the name of cow protection.
Bhaskar Shetty murder case
On being asked about developments in the investigations of Bhaskar Shetty murder, he said “Many people put a request that the case should be handed over to criminal investigation department (CID) for a speedy probe. We agreed and accordingly appointed CID. They have begun the investigations since then. We should wait for the report to come. There should be sufficient time for them.” Dr Parameshwar said.
Earlier he had visited Kollur temple from where he had left for Udupi. His next stop is Mangaluru.

Kundapur, Aug 26: Karnataka minister of Home affairs, Dr G Parameshwara has said that the government is committed to strengthen the Police force and has already taken action towards the demand of police constables.
“Nearly 25 thousand positions are vacant in the state. Sixteen thousand positions are being filled now. The appointments will take place starting from September 2016. Eight thousand staff including 629 sub-inspectors has been already appointed. 19,600 constables will be appointed by the end of March, 2017,” he said.
He was speaking to reporter during his visit to Kollur Mookambika temple on Friday September 26.
“Every year 3 to 4 thousand policemen get retired. There is work pressure as the previous governments did not recruit police staff. The recruitment process will be continuous in future,” he said.
“The government has fulfilled the demand for weekly holiday. It has also consented to pay cash instead of ration. A committee is formed for revision of pay. The committee will visit different states in the country, collect information and submit a report to the government.
The government will take action on the basis of the report,” he said.
Strength to Cyber Crime division
“Karnataka was first to start a Cyber Crime police station in the country. Cyber crimes are spreading throughout the world. Criminals sitting in a distant place, take control through internet, change data and cause conflicts. The government has come forward to strengthen the department. Experienced and qualified staff already in the force will be assigned to the department. The research laboratories will be upgraded,” he said.
Speaking about Amnesty International issue, he said, “Investigation regarding Amnesty International issue is in progress. There will be punishments if proven guilty according to the law. It is not fair to use this matter in politics. We too love our country. The government will not interfere in it.”
Regarding question on increasing sale of illicit liquor in coastal and Malnad regions, he said, “The control of illicit liquor is under Excise department and they should control it.”
On asked about the statement by film actress Ramya, he said that he will not interfere in it.
He reached Kollur on August 25 night and participated in Chandika Yaga on Friday August 26. He was accompanied by his wife and family members.
When asked about naming the organization of backward class Dalits headed by Ishwarappa after freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna, he said that he will not respond regarding BJP.
“18 accused have been arrested with regard to the murder of Kenjooru Praveen Poojary. The main suspect has also been arrested. Impartial investigation is being held. As there is no scope to provide compensation under the purview of law, attempts are on for compensation on compassionate grounds,” he said.
