Bengaluru, Aug 27: Former Karnataka home minister K J George, who faces harassment charges in the alleged suicide case of DySP Ganpathi was questioned by CID at length on Friday, Aug 26.
Geoge has stated that he has made no personal calls to DySP Ganapathi and the allegation that he has harassed the police officer is false. As George received a notice for questioning regarding the suicide of M K Ganapathi he went to CID office on Palace road in Bengaluru on Friday afternoon, Aug 26. He said that he might have met Ganapathi when he was the minister but never directly spoke to him.
The team of investigating officers under the supervision of ADGP C H Pratap Reddy has recorded the statement of former minister after questioning him for more than three hours. He came out in the evening after completing the questioning but refused to give details to the media regarding it.
The sources stated that George said that he might have met Ganapathi for two or three times when he was the minister but he does not remember clearly the date and time.
“When Ganapathi was serving in Rajagopala town police station, he had faced charges of dereliction of duty. Therefore the then police commissioner Auradkar had suspended him. Ganapathi had met me and requested for help. I had sent him back saying that I will not interfere in the administration of police commissioner. We never met after that”, stated the source as said by K J George.
George was alleged to have taken revenge regarding Church attacks in Mangaluru. “I had visited Mangaluru as home minister. Nobody complained to me about Ganapathi then. I have not exercised power listening to a third person. I have worked on the basis of political experience and law. I have never harassed officials during my political life.” George has reportedly told the CID.
