Mangaluru, Aug 29: Mangaluru city south constituency, south block congress committee and Mangaluru city block congress committee jointly organised a programme on the occasion of the first death anniversary of Mohammed Badruddin here at Shanthi Nilaya on Sunday August 28.

The programme was symbolically inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by Saleem Ahmed, former DG of Nehru Yuva Kendra, New Delhi along with other dignitaries.

Addressing the gathering, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai said, "We have lost a very good party worker and so remembering such a person by organising this programme is appreciable. Mohammmed Badruddin was a warm-hearted person who worked his throughout his life for the party without any expectations. By working at grass roots level he won the confidence of the people. It is a good culture to pay respect to the people who have worked for the party. I congradulate J R Lobo and the presidents of both the blocks for organising this programme."

Food and civil supplies minister, U T Khader said, "Badruddin was the reason for me to join NSUI at that point of time. Organising a programme like this is respect we can pay to Badruddin's personality. He was a very affectionate and positive person who had won the hearts of the people. Power may come, power may go, but having an attitude like Badruddin's is very important. Only then people will remember us. He had given his entire life for the party without any expectation of position or power. I pray his soul rest in peace."

Saleem Ahmed said, "I thank J R Lobo for organizing this programme in remembrance of Badruddin. Lobo has showed that anyone who works for the party will be remembered. This is a model programme. I think it is one of its kind in the entire state. I knew Badruddin for the past 35 years. He was a close friend of mine. He was a rare politician who worked for the party without any expectation of power or position. Unfortunately we lost him last year. He was very much active in party activities. I pray that his soul rest in peace."
