Mangaluru, Aug 29: Popular Front of India (PFI) activists, who had come to protest in front of Mangaluru city police commissioner’s office, were lathi charged on the afternoon of Monday, August 29.

The activists did not have permission to protest. They engaged with heavy arguments with the police personnel and did not listen to police when they were stopped from protesting. While the situation looked like turning into a conflict, the police personnel resorted to mild lathi charge and detained them.

Lathi charge and detention stopped the protestors from holding any protest.

The PFI activists were protesting against the arrest of Saifulla for his alleged role in Charan murder case which took place recently at Vamanjoor.

On Sunday August 28 also PFI had held a protest near Moodushedde on the same issue. Their plans to hold protest in front of Mangaluru rural police station were foiled by police.
