Bengaluru, Aug 30: A man from Udupi has written a threat letter to former minister and writer B T Lalitha Naik, it is gathered.
“I received the letter from a person named Sunil Sharma from Udupi, a week ago. He says people like me should be killed for my observations on cow slaughter,” Naik said.
As per details, Naik had attended an event about 20 days ago in Chikkamagaluru where she had opposed the attack on Dalits for skinning a dead cow.
“Sharma has written that people like me should be killed instead of cows. Expletives have been used against me in the letter." she said.
Naik has not lodged any police complaint yet. She had only talked about this matter with some fellow writers. They advised her to lodge a complaint with the police.
“I will lodge a complaint at the Sanjaynagar police station on behalf of Dr Kalburgi, Pansare, Dabholkar Hatya Virodhi Horata Samithi on Wednesday once I return to Bengaluru. I will also produce the letter before the police.” she added.
She is in Dharwad to take part in a protest on Tuesday against the killing of progressive thinkers M M Kalburgi, Govind Pansare and Narendra Dabholkar.
A famous progressive writer, Naik served as minister for Kannada and Culture in J H Patel Cabinet.
