Mangaluru, Aug 31: Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit has condemned the action of the district superintendent of police (SP), in making it mandatory to furnish bond amounting to Rs 10 lac for holding of different Hindu festivals, religious celebrations and national festivals by several organizations, institutions and Hindu centres of faith.
"Dakshina Kannada district is a land of Daivas and gods. Since times immemorial, Hindu religiious programmes have been held here in a way that is different and unique as compared to other districts. These programmes have been held in peaceful and harmonious atmosphere. The BJP may be forced to take to streets if the SP does not properly assimilate the culture of this district and tries to crush religious sentiments of the district," said district BJP president, Sanjeev Matandoor.
He has demanded the SP not to stipulate the bond condition of Rs 10 lac for regularly held national festivals, Hindu festivals and religious celebrations and Hindu religious programmes organized by different organizations and institutions in the district.
