Kundapur: Speeding tanker hits bike, rider dies on spot

Kundapur, Aug 31: A speeding tanker hit a bike at Ankadakatte near here and as a result the bike rider died on the spot on Wednesday, August 31.

Nagappa (24) from Ankadakatte, originally from Naragunda in Dharwad, is the person deceased. Pillion rider has been seriously injured and his name is not known.

The tanker which hit the bike, did not stop at the accident spot, but sped. Some people who received the news about the accident managed to intercept the tanker at Kota.

A case stands registered at Kundapur traffic police station.

    Mangalorean people are very much self centered, selfish people and that is why, we common people are the victims for all the ills.

    if the same thing would have happened in Bombay, people will hold the driver and thrashed him nicely. Unless we come to this mindset, nothing will change. NO point sitting in safe zone and writing in social media. The impact on the careless drivers in only action by the public. There is no fear for the drivers specially bus, truck and they don't give damn to the safety of others.

    boss, when these 2 wheelerists doesn't care about their own life, driving so irresponsibly, negligence, no safety measures like helmet and above ... thinking they can drive how ever they want... why and how the hell others will safeguard them boss. You just drive in Mangalore ... especially peak hours. OMG these 2 wheelers driving, always being on the middle of the road... threatening opponent vehicles, it could be cars, trucks, busses... I bet nobody can safeguard them until they realize it's they who are on major threat coming below the tyres of the other vehicle.

    Kundapur is now accident zone. every alternative day there is accident. most of them are tankers, or tucks or buses are hitting to bike's or cars.

    But still No action is taken by authorities. very very irresponsible authorities.

    Few key points to notice

    1. Seeing the 2 wheelerists driving now a days, first suspect will be the bike riders. What a harsh and rash driving they are in to. We need to escape them from coming under cars or big vehicles

    2. Hit and run cases are common because there were many instances where the public attacked these defaulter suspects irrespective whether they are the culprits or not. So preferably, if it's minor accident, you can treat the victims. But if it's fatal, they prefer to surrender at near by police station than putting their life in trouble at the spot. But escaping, no at any cost

    3. Public should also realize attacking such drivers ( with out knowing who is at the mistake ) is not recommended. Many a times, due to the mistakes of the victims also accident occurs and other side will have no chance to save them. Especially kids coming under the vehicles due to parents / guardians negligence, also these havoc driving 2 wheelerists coming straight below the tyres... nothing can save them.

    any ways, pity on this victim who lost his life. RIP.

    Typical HIT AND RUN attitude. Instead of stopping the vehicle and trying to render First Aid it looks as if the driver of the tanker was trying to escape.

    These kind of accidents are ever on the increase. Serious steps need to be taken to control the situation. Speed Governors is one option.

    Hope the Police will take serious note of the situation and take appropriate action.
