Mangaluru, Sep 1: In a very shocking incident, a live mobile phone camera was found in a ladies toilet of Mangaluru university campus.
Though the incident was discovered on August 24, the matter was not given much prominence until it was discussed in the University Syndicate meeting on Wednesday, August 31.
A girl student, who came to the toilet on August 24, saw the camera and informed about it to the management. When they checked the mobile, it was found that the mobile camera had transmitted the images on even August 7 and 11.
The mobile phone had two clippings of 15 and 30 minutes duration in its database. Some said it was using local Wi-Fi to send images and videos.
It is not known when the camera was fixed there. Some said the mobile did not have the SIM but then it is not clear as to how it could transmit the images and videos. The Syndicate which discussed the matter has told its member K M Lokesh to investigate further.
The mobile was wrapped in a paper and inserted into the hole made in a plank in the toilet. The paper was painted blue so that it matched the colour of the plank. A power bank was used for the mobile, so that it could remain active for long.
