Mangaluru, Sep 2: A consultative meet was held at Saraswati Sadana Kateel to discuss and take a decision about contemptuous remarks appearing about the presiding deity of the temple in certain social websites.
Addressing the gathering, trustee of the temple, Vasudeva Asranna, expressed displeasure at the situation that is turning to be harmful to righteousness and peaceful coexistence. He prayed to the god to bestow good sense in everyone.
Managing trustee of the temple, Dr Raveendra Poonja, said that written complaint will be sent to the government and concerned departments. He urged the devotees to repose trust on the decision of the goddess and not to resort to any sort of protests on this issue. The meeting also decided to pray to the goddess and then file complaint with Bajpe police station about the internet abuse. Towards this end, devotees from all over Dakshina Kannada district will meet at the temple on September 4, enter the temple premises at 3 pm accompanied by devotional songs in praise of the goddess, and offer special puja to the presiding deity at 4 pm.
Priest of the temple, Laxminarayana Asrana, Anantapadmanabha Asranna, Kamaladeviprasad Asranna, vice president of Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat, Kasturi Panja, Vedavyasa Udupa of Devasya Math, and a large number of dignitaries were present.
Harinarayana Asranna delivered introductory address. Sonda Bhaskar Bhat presented the programme.
In the meanwhile, Sri Mohandas Paramahamsa Swmiji of Manila Shreedhama has criticized the people driven by ulterior motive who have been spreading hatred by making distasteful remarks about gods and deities. He demanded strong action against perverted persons who he said, inflict damage on the entire society. A meeting to condemn the incident is being held at Vittal Lord Anantheshwara temple at 10.30 am on Friday September 2 with the participation of several heads of Maths, a release said.
At a meeting held at Soubhagya auditorium at Kolya on Thursday, a resolution to condemn this post was taken.
