Mangaluru: District prison raided, 29 mobiles, ganja seized

Mangaluru, Sep 5: In yet another raid within weeks, police raided the district prison and seized several items which included mobiles and ganja.

The police under the guidance of city police commissioner Chandra Shekar raided the prison premises at around 2 am of Monday, September 5. They seized 29 mobiles, 12 SIM cards, unspecified amount of ganja, 1 knife, 1 metal punch, iron rods etc.

According to highly placed sources, prison inmates were using the internet through WiFi.

DCPs Shantharaju and Sanjeev Patil, ACPs Uday Naik and Thilakraj, Inspectors Rajesh from Barke, Maruti Naik from Kadri, Shantharam from Bunder and Raveesh from Urwa also took part in the operation with police and KSRP personnel.

    People,

    Looks like inmates are self-sufficiant in Ganja(Growing it inside jail)...let them smoke and relax...what is the big problem???

    Shankar can inspect prison with PC(Police Commissioner) and advise him how to identify the plants and processes to dry and season the leaves...it looks exactly like coriander plant...with seeds...and has a very characteristic smell which can be recognized from a mile!!! 100% medical and engg students can recognize its smell, I bet...

    May be Jail Supdt thinks prisoners have grown coriander leaves...

    They can raid everyday,they will find one or the other.when incoming and out going personnels and Autos carrying beverages should also be observed strictly.There is no differences between out and inside as it is now.without help,they cant have ganja and mobiles.change all personal,even Police .

    Jail authorities should frequently check this to stop such illegal activities. Action should also be taken those who are involved in supplying mobiles, ganja and other weapons.

    This shows how efficient are our jail administrators.Within a week district prison raided and 29 mobiles,ganja seized.What a good development it is?One must appreciate the transparency in jail administration by the concerned officials.Without the hand in gloves with the criminals/undergrounds,these kind of activities can't be possible.When officials are getting handsome bribe to allow all these activities inside the jail,why they have to bother about to control or bring under control these kind of activities.CCTV,strict vigilance etc are all for eye wash.This clearly indicates inefficiency by the concerned officials inside the jail/prison.Prison is for protection but this is happening frequently in rotation.One of the best prisons in whole world ever seen before.All these corrupt administrators should be terminated from their service and mete harsh punishment for their act.

    THESE OFFICERS ARE FOOLING AROUND FROM THE BEGINNING, EVEN TODAY AND IN FUTURE AS WELL.. AND WE ARE THE FOOLS TO READ ALL THESE NEWS!!
    PUNISH THE OFFICERS OF THE JAIL WHO TAKE CARE THESE INMATES..
    I THINK IF SOMEONE BRIBES NEAR THE GATE THEY ALLOW ANYTHING TO CARRY INSIDE..INVESTIGATE THE GATE INCHARGE FIRST.

    Prison life & jails for some convicts may be a place for relaxation. Tax payers money is being wasted on these convicts.
    May be one more assault & murder is averted. Nothing is working out in a right way. Corruption is the evil of all these happenings.

    The jail warden's are highly corrupt. Even when you have to visit any inmates they demand something. Really surprising to see so many mobiles in the jail along with ganja etc. So even ganja to come to the city there should be some source. So not only the jail staff are corrupt even the police at all the station's are involved even in ganja being involved.

    News of raid in Mangalore prison can be heard now and then with the recovery of mobile , ganja, cash,etc etc.
    Raid is conducted on routine basis by higher officials also aprt from Human Rights Commission>
    Main question is WHO SUPPORTS AND HELPS THESE THINGS TO GET ENTER INTO PRISON ? Have we heard of any enquiry ? any suspension ?
    It is the open secret that wardens need money for each and everything and they need the share of eatables taken by the relatives of inmates.
    Do the officers aware of it ?

    it is not possible unless police support or hand to supply mobiles phones and drugs inside the jail,
    this is happening mainly bcos allowing outside food or home food, just stop this nonsense ,why home food allowed in jails if they can do the crime then eat only jail food.
    no use of cc camera,
    this jail has to shifted some where remote part of mangalore
    this is not jail this is homestay with all luxury fecelities.

    Nothing new in this. It is common in Mangalore jail.

    If you raid daily also, you will find all this things with them.

    Change complete staff from that jail & transfer to very remote place.

    Change all maintenance staff & recruit new team.

    Install a scanner inside the jail
    and connect the monitor direct to S.P. & D.C. office through internet.

    Sure at least 6 months, you wont find any such materials inside the jail.

    Simply don't play "Chor Police game" just to fool the public.

    Without help of jail authorities it is not possible. Only raid and seize the illegal times not enough. Find the source of illegal activities. How inmates get wi-fi password. Tomorrow they may get wife also inside the jail.
