BSF seizes 25 packets of heroin in Punjab


Chandigarh, Sep 8 (IANS): The Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered 25 packets of heroin along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab's Amritsar sector, officials said on Thursday.

The heroin seizure was made in the Border out Post (BoP) Shahpur area of Amritsar, nearly 300 km from here, BSF officials said.

Alert BSF troopers noticed suspicious movement of smugglers from Pakistan side near the border security fence early on Thursday.

The smugglers were challenged but they escaped.

The recovery was made following a search of the area on Thursday morning.

The weight and estimated value of the seized consignment was yet not determined, the officials said.
