Kapil Sharma alleges BMC officer sought bribe, asks PM 'Is this 'achche din'

Mumbai, Sep 9 (PTI) : Popular stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma today alleged that he was asked to pay Rs 5 lakh bribe to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for his office, and tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his tweets while asking if this was the "achche din" he promised.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was, however, quick to respond to Sharma's angst and assured him that strict action would be taken against the culprit.

"I am paying 15 cr income tax from last 5 year n still i have to pay 5 lacs bribe to BMC office for making my office @narendramodi (sic)," Kapil tweeted this morning while expressing his anguish and raising the issue of corruption.

"Yeh hain aapke achhe din? @narendramodi," the comedian-actor sought to know in another tweet, referring to Modi's 2014 poll slogan of "good days are ahead".

The post of Sharma, who has over 6.22 million followers on twitter, was retweeted by many.
Taking cognisance of the complaint, Fadnavis requested the TV host to provide them with necessary information to punish the culprit.

"Kapilbhai pls provide all info. Have directed MC,BMC to take strictest action. We will not spare the culprit," the CM said in a tweet. The BMC also asked Sharma to reveal the name of the officer who allegedly demanded the bribe.

"I have requested Kapil Sharmaji to reveal the name of the officer who demanded bribe so that we can initiate inquiry and appropriate action against him or her. We hope that he will cooperate with us," Manohar Pawar, chief engineer of vigilance department in BMC, told PTI.

"We are very sorry, if any of the officers caused inconvenience to Sharma, but we are hopeful that he will reveal the name of the offender," Pawar said.

Sharma hosts the popular comedy chat programme "The Kapil Sharma Show" on television.
He was the winner of "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge" in 2007 and later hosted the popular "Comedy Nights with Kapil".

Last year, Sharma made his Bollywood debut with Abbas Mustan's romantic-comedy film "Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon".

Kapil Sharma's problem is that he is an immature person educationally backward and innocent about country's law.If somebody asks bribe in BMC his next choice is to report the issue to vigilance office, police to redress his grievance. Why he should pull Modi's name here for his weakness?
He is not doing any favour to the govt by paying hafty sum as IT,but it is thge duty of every citizen to pay tax for the income generated in his profession as per rules. If is does not pay it liable for prosecution.Kapil Sharma may be a joker, coedian but not about countyr's law.

Eradication of Corruption is not as simple as making an election promise. Both the giver and the taker are guilty of crime. The giver has no choice but to reluctantly part with the money otherwise his fate gets miserable. Kapil should tell the world through his comedy nights what type of "Achche din" has the present PM given to India. Is it different from the previous PM's in any way as far as corruption is concerned or is it worse?

Without two hands clap os not possible. we Indians are born corrupt. We blame others for the corruption being part of corruption. When you accuse the adultery both partners are accused equally. But in bribery Indians think that only the bribe taking person as sinner, when both do the same sin of bribery. For me until you punish both parties bribery doesn't reduce. Otherwise there should be a new rule , for anyone wants to do their job at government offices on priority basis there should eb extra price half should go the person who does that I mean government officer . and half should paid as tax. As some counties legalize the prostitution same way the bribery should be legalized , However the government is not increasing the salary of the employees So if you follow this innovative method both the customer and the government employee both feel good . Country would progress as the black money/taxless money would be spend on this noble purpose of Bribery. So acche din sure return.

Yes, they (PM\CM\or any authority under them) immediately come up and promise to take action if a celebrity\wealthy complains of corruption but never take up poor people complaints.....May be Modi in his bashanas may have meant - those promises only for the rich and affluent. We misunderstood that time and voted him. 007 - Na khavoonga, na khane doonga and we believed...

    But think of this:
If Modi\BJP takes action against all corrupt officials in his\their Government and all other Govt. departments, there will be only a handful left to do the work - honestly!!!.

The corruption has spread & it s like octopuses and their tentacle, reaching every nook & corner. There is no name tag to it like BJP\Cong.\JDS etc. Top to bottom almost all are involved and no work can be carried out without bribing.
Is it possible then to point\name corrupt officials and then suffer year after year to complete one's Governmental work!!!?

Govt. can not even appoint Inspectors or under cover investigators to trace corrupt officials as they themselves will be prone to bribing to keep operations under cover..!!!
    Where do we go then!!!

hey... come on. one person assured you justice and you all are standing one legged and asking we want justice right away. Let him work for his term boss. so many initiatives taken which are clearly stopping the bribes. adhaar card made mandatory, PAN card connected , bank account connected to Adhaar... so many initiatives which if allowed to be done completely , there will be a drastic change in the process than now. But unfortunately thinking Modi will succeed in his plans, all the anti nation forces ( including people like you ) are behind Modi spoiling his name and image. Please... sincere request, please wait for their term and then decide what's done and not done. Come on... things screwed up for decades , needs at least 5 years to reflect at least some changes... till then please wait and watch.

Taking the Bribe and giving the bribe is common in all Government department of India. 95% officials are involved into this and this is a open secret even.
We can read about the Lokayutha raids now and then and also seeing the photos of officers, their houses and wealth on media even>
But question is how many of the caught officers get punishment ?
What is the procedure to prove an officer is corrupt ?
Kapil Sharma may let off free this time but all officers get united and there will be bad days ahead for Kapil Sharma>>> We have seen this type of approach before also
PLEASE PUNISH AT LEAST ONE GOVERNMENT OFFICER WHICH MUST BE A LESSON FOR OTHERS

I is good that Kapil Sharma has pointed out at corruption in BMC. But this is only work half done. He should ensure that this issue comes to a logical conclusion and inform all about it. Secondly ,he should also reveal where all he encountered this type of corruption in the past and what he did then. He must remember that this disease of corruption is nurtured by people who are wealthy who find it easy to get what they want by giving bribe small enough to the favours they get......If he has paid taxes in crores obviously he is a wealthy man but good that he chose to complain about corruption.
