10 missing in Nepal boat capsize

Kathmandu, Sep 18 (IANS): At least 10 persons were reported missing while 37 others were rescued when a boat capsized in the Koshi river in eastern Nepal's Sunsari district, a top official said on Sunday.

The boat was heading towards Prakashpur from Sri Lanka Tapu (Island) on Saturday with at least 47 passengers on board when it capsized due to fast water currents, according to Mohan Bahadur Chapagain, Chief District Officer of Sunsari.

Police have confirmed the identities of those missings, Xinhua news agency reported.

A search operation for those missing was continuing.

"However, traces of none of those missing have been found yet," an official said.
