Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Sep 19: As per a complaint filed in Manipal police station, a professor of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) at Manipal has alleged that he was cheated of Rs 1.25 lac by a group of people who claimed themselves to be employees of a private bank.

Assistant professor in MIT, Prof Sudhanshu Bhushan Raju, reportedly was misled by Gautham Bhatia, Savita, Manish, Anita, and Veerendra Kumar, who posed themselves as employees of Standard Chartered Bank. As per the complaint, the accused created fake email ID in the name of the bank, promised to lend Rs 50 lac to the complainant, and collected a total sum of Rs 1,24,500 through NEFT transfers between August 1 and September 3. They are said to have convinced the professor that this amount represents IT Service Tax.

Aggrieved at the fact that no loan was granted to him, the complainant has approached Manipal police station with the said complaint. The police are preparing to investigate the case.

Trusting to certain limit and helping others financially is a humanitarian act and sometimes we are bound by human sympathy.
As you said I had in the past helped few known people and got cheated but that was small amount.

I have lost the amounts. But I have learnt a lesson too.

This Professor is a stuff full of ignorance and Greed.

How can a fake ID of a bank be created, it can be a near identical only!!

Wonder from which university he graduated to have not had a PINCH OF COMMON SENSE, which is, of course, scarce nowadays!

But here the Professor seems to be Feku.
IT qualified/experienced and falling prey to Fake promises. We are time and again alerted and warned against acting on e-mail instructions or requests. Even the
Banks are very cautious about acting on registered e-mail messages or instructions.
