PM chairs meet with top Ministers and officials on Kashmir

New Delhi, Sep 19 (PTI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired a high-level meeting attended by top ministers and other officials over the deadly terror attack in Uri.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Dalbir Singh Suhag besides other senior officials attended the meeting.

The top security brass briefed the Prime Minister on the prevailing ground situation in Kashmir Valley in the wake of the terror attack at a Brigade Headquarters in Uri in which 17 soldiers were killed, official sources said.

The Defence Minister and the Army Chief had visited Kashmir after the terror attack yesterday.

Heavily armed militants suspected to be from Pakistan-based JeM had yesterday stormed an army base in Uri in Kashmir, killing 17 jawans.

India had reacted strongly to the deadliest attack on the Army in Jammu and Kashmir in a quarter-century-old insurgency that sparked an outrage with the Prime Minister strongly condemning it.

"We strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Uri. I assure the nation that those behind this despicable attack will not go unpunished," Modi had said.

The Home Minister, who had yesterday called an emergency meeting in Delhi, had pointed a finger directly at Pakistan, saying it is a "terrorist state" and should be isolated while BJP leader Ram Madhav said days of strategic restraint are over and suggested that "for one tooth, the complete jaw" should be the policy after the attack.

PM Modi ji Kahan gaya sab 'Mann ki baat'?

For instance, not too long ago, Parrikar said India should neutralise terrorists through terrorists, invoking the phrase “kaante se kaanta nikaalte hain (you have to extract a thorn with a thorn) to justify this strategy. He then said, “Why can’t we do it? We should do it. Why my soldier has to do it all the time?”

Burly boys spoiling for a fight rarely restrain themselves. Likewise, when Parrikar was asked about the impact of his statement, at a seminar early June, he shot back, “I will not go into what Pakistan feels about that but mirchi, woh bhi Andhra ki, lagi hai (It has been stung by pungent Andhra chillies).”

Is Parrikar still waiting for 'Andhra chilies' neutralise terror?

Can any BJP/RSS bhakts tell, what happened after phatankot terror attack? Modi had similar sittings and eatings. Finally, ignorant Modi govt., invited terrorist training centre ISI to Indian airbase, whose access is forbidden to even Indians.

How can such a shameless, hopeless, incapable govt take any direct action? All we can expect is chest thumping politicians on some friendly television channels like times now or zee news, screaming will teach pak a fitting lesson. Then go with a begging bowl to US, asking them to take some actions against pak.
Then come back and attend some wedding in PAK at mid-night, eat some biryani and sleep in airplane.

It is a shame. BJP is making Indians in bow in shame. Condemnable.

The is for all the youths who claim Modi has the best Prime Minister India has ever produced.
The below is a small example how Mrs.Indira Gandhi used to take descions.
These were the words claimed and said by Army chief Gen. Sam Manekshaw
It was the afternoon of April 29, 1971. Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had called an urgent cabinet meeting. With a special invitee, Army chief Gen. Sam Manekshaw.
''What are you doing?'' a fuming Mrs Gandhi asked the general, throwing reports of refugee influx from East Pakistan sent by the West Bengal Chief Minister, Siddartha Shankar Ray, on the table, Manekshaw recalled.
''I want you to walk into East Pakistan,'' Mrs Gandhi told her army chief. ''That means war,'' the general said. ''I don't mind if it is war,'' was Mrs Gandhi's characteristic reply.
Manekshaw was unruffled by the outburst. ''Have you read the bible?'' he asked the PM in his usual breezy manner. ''What has the bible got to do with this?'' Swaran Singh intervened. ''In the beginning there was darkness. God said let there be light and there was light. He then divided light from the darkness,'' Manekshaw quoted the Genesis to impress upon the ministers that the army was not prepared for a sudden war.
''I have only 30 tanks and two armoured divisions with me. The Himalayan passes will be opening anytime. What if the Chinese give an ultimatum? The rains will start now in East Pakistan. When it rains there the rivers become oceans. I guarantee 100 per cent defeat,'' Manekshaw told Mrs Gandhi, disapproving the idea of an immediate attack. Mrs Gandhi finally gave her army chief the time he wanted to elaborate his strategy.
Thirteen days later Bangladesh was born marking one of the high points in Indian diplomacy: in nine months the country was able to isolate the US, bring Western Europe on to our side and win over the world media.
    Now that is leadership.

Today war is not a solution, But the person who was talking big when he was the CM of Gujarath is helpless today.

Modi is fit for meetings and bhashanas only and we cannot expect beyond that from him. Central govt used military to kill more than 80 people in Kashmir and most of them are below 15 aged group. Why the military and Central govt not showing guts to counter Pakistan??? 56" chest to whom he is scared??? Kill the terrorists instead of killing the children in Kashmir. Shame on BJP govt.
