Mangalore, Dec 17: Now, most of newspapers and tabloids are in the grip of capitalists and politicians.  Hence, it is about time for journalists to follow ‘code of ethics’ or the ‘canons of journalism’ till justice is done to ‘Journalism’, said Prof Narahari, president, Federation of University and College Teachers’ Association in Karnataka (FUCTAK) and registrar of St Aloysius College, while releasing ‘Janaspandana’, Kannada weekly, at the press conference, here on Monday December 17.

Truth is something that dwells at considerable depth. Of course, writing has to be presented attractively with sharp edged language, but it does not mean that readers and truth seekers can be taken for ride, he added.

Politicians or politics is the one that newspapers cannot avoid, major newspapers and tabloids like ‘Lankesh Partrike’ or ‘Hai Bangaloor’ may be hijacked by influential politicians.  However, it is highly essential that papers do escape the politics and present news impartially, he suggested.

Media should represent the Indian culture.  The whole of media is increasingly becoming corporate affair. It is obvious that majority of famous personalities are directed and driven by ideals. It is appluaded that the released tabloid has the genuine concern as its ideals; he expressed happiness, wishing success to the venture.

The intention of presenting the facts and unbaised criticism has driven the editorial board to start the publication, the paper stands for the people's wish. It vindicates the pro-people policies, Wilfred Lobo, proprietor of Chethana Press opined.

Valerian D'Souza, Jayaprasad of the tabloid, Ronald Anil Fernandes, bureau-chief of Deccan Herald and Sadanand Shervevgar, editor of the tabloid were present on the occasion.
