M'lore: Anganawady Assistants Demand Better Remuneration

Mangalore, Dec 17: Anganawady assistants and workers staged an agitation in front of the office of Child Welfare department, under the banner of Anganawady workers and assistants' association, Mangalore rural, putting forth 4 major demands, here on Monday December 17.

The charter of demands included payment of the honorarium to the anganawady workers and assistants which has been over-due for the past 4 months, to pay fuel expenses every month, to hike reimbursement of other expenses from Rs 50 to Rs 100 and not to assign any other duties which are not related to their concerned department. 

The agitators also threatened that they would delay the submission of monthly report, Stree Shakthi report besides not to extend services under Pulse Polio programme, if their demands are not fulfilled.

The copies of the charter of demands were sent to the deputy commissioner, other officials and major dailies in the city, stated B Pushpa Kumari, president of the association. 

Leelavati, convener of the association and Anganawady assistants and workers were present on the occasion.
