Mangaluru, Sep 24: Differences between two factions of Badriya Jumma Masjid at Angaragudde near Mulky turned into bitter friction on Friday September 23, ending in pitched battle between the factions. Five persons from both sides got admitted into hospitals thereafter.
When Khateeb of the mosque, Assayyed Ibrahim Tangal, was delivering discourse on Thursday night at the mosque, members of one of the factions suddenly swarmed into the mosque and resorted to vandalism. The gang sped away after hitting the Khateeb, and member of the Jamaat, Mustafa, it was alleged in a complaint filed with Mulky police.
On Friday morning, a local named Shihab (18), was going to college when the accused, Ahmed Bava, Abdul Khader, Zubair, Abubakker, Muhammed Hanif, Karnire Shamsu, Siddique, Muhammed Saaz and others, with lethal weapons in their hands, attacked him, it is said. Shihab got admitted into Mulky hospital. A case against the above accused has been registered.
In the meanwhile, Ahmed Bava (55), Nawaz (21), Zubair (40), and Abdul Khader (48) were moving towards Angaragude mosque for offering namaz on Friday, when accused, identified as Hussain, Ashiq, Irshad, Nissar, Iqbal, and several others rained choicest abuses on them and ran away after attacking them with sharp weapons, it is alleged. The persons who were attacked got admitted into Mulky Hospital.
Mulky police have registered both the complaint and the counter complaint.
