Kundapur, Sep 25: It is a bitter truth that several rural parts of Kundapur are still deprived of basic amenities. There were 56 gram panchayats in Kundapur taluk earlier which became 65 after bifurcation of some gramas. However, the developments in these gramas have been negligible.
The people in naxal affected Kodabail area near Thombatthu under Hengavalli gram panchayat limits are still deprived of basic amenities.
As many as 25 houses are in Kodabail with a total of 350 people, who do not have necessary facilities. The road to connect the village is yet to be constructed. There is a road, but a local person has brought a court stay order on the construction of road connecting the main road.
Nearly 10 children go to junior primary school, 15 children go to higher primary school and 4 students attend college classes walking in pathways, lanes and fields here. There are more than 20 senior citizens. Five women are presently pregnant and 10 people are bed ridden. On the whole, sick people need to be carried rolling them in blanket in the narrow lanes.
Several complaints have been submitted to the concerned department and local grama panchayat. The local Tahsildar has visited the place twice but nothing has changed so far. The indifference of local officials has angered the villagers. They have threatened of protests if the road is not constructed.
Advocate Shiriyara Gopalakrishna Shetty speaking on behalf of landlord who had obtained a court stay against construction of road said that the land where the villagers demand construction of road is owned by the landlord. As the case is in the court, they have to proceed legally to prevent contempt of court.
The affected villagers have blamed the concerned department and officials for pathetic state of affairs in the village.
