Madikeri, Sep 27: Kodagu district unit of JDS staged protest in front of Gandhi Mantap in the town on Monday September 26, condemning the chief minister's action in re-inducting minister, K J George, after investigation by criminal investigation department (CID) found him not guilty of the charges harassing deputy superintendent of police, M K Ganapathi, who committed suicide after naming George and two senior police officers responsible for his death.
JDS district working president, Sanketh Poovayya, addressing the protestors, pointed out that CID has filed its 'B' report to the court but there is time till September 29 to file objections in the court. He deemed admitting George into the ministry even when the case was in court, as an insult to the citizens of Karnataka. He accused the concerned of bringing pressure on CID officials during investigations to get favourablel report in order to protect George. He urged the chief minister to take back his decision.
JDS youth unit president, Vishwa, district SC unit president, H N Yogesh Kumar, vice president, H G Gopal, and several others leaders and people's representatives were present.
Reacting to protests, minister, K J George,speaking to media persons after the swearing-in ceremony on Monday, said that the CID report has absolved him of the allegation of harassing Ganapathi. He said that people having objections over the finding of the CID are free to approach the court. He reiterated that he did not have anything to do with the police officer's suicide, and thanked those who strongly supported him during the crisis.
