Mangaluru, Sep 27: A doctor who had completed his internship at Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte only four days ago met a tragic end at Ladakh while on an expedition with three of his friends on Monday September 26.
The 24 year old doctor, Mohammed Irshad hailing from Alappuzha had left on an expedition with three of his friends and had reached Ladakh on Monday September 26 when he died under mysterious circumstances. Mohammed Nuhman, a junior collegemate of Mohammed Irshad said that he received the tragic news on Monday at 8 am. “His friends telephoned from Ladakh saying that Irshad has breathing problems. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved,” he said.
Irshad has two brothers and a sister. The body is likely to reach the residence of the doctor's parents at Alappuzha this evening.
Irshad loved travelling and had posted pictures on facebook of his trips to Sonamarg, Kashmir, Wagah border, Udaipur and Goa. He had declared on facebook that his commitment to the medical field was absolute and non-negotiable.
His friends said that Irshad wanted to pursue post graduation in orthopaedics. Nuhman said that Irshad was very popular in college as he was very helpful. “Besides being a sports captain in the college team, he used to motivate his juniors during exams.” he said.
More than 200 college students went to Kerala on Monday and Tuesday to receive the mortal remains and pay their last respects.
