Mangaluru, Sep 27: The city traffic police, as a part of the road safety week, carried out a drive to pluck the shrill horns at various parts of the city and fined 187 vehicles on Tuesday September 27.
The drive was carried out in many places including Surathkal, Panamboor, Kuloor, Ladyhill, Kottara etc.
DCP (Traffic and Crime) Dr Sanjeev Patil supervised the drive. The DCP said that a total of 187 buses have been booked in this regard.
Speaking to Daijiworld, traffic ACP Thilakchandra said that sum of Rs 18,700 was collected which accounts to Rs 100 per case. “The offenders mostly were buses but included all types of vehicles including the trucks,” he said.
He also said that simultaneously vehicles not possessing the proper documents were also fined and all the traffic police except the south police station participated in the drive.
