Peres was warrior for peace: Advani


New Delhi, Sep 28 (IANS): Condoling the death of Israeli leader Shimon Peres, Bharatiya Janata Party leader and former Deputy Prime Minister L.K. Advani on Wednesday called him a "warrior for peace".

Peres, one of Israel's founding fathers, died on Wednesday morning in Tel Aviv.

Advani said in a condolence message: "I am deeply grieved to learn about the demise of Shimon Peres... He was Israel's warrior for peace."

Advani noted that Peres held several diplomatic and military positions during and after Israel's war for independence.

"I had the privilege of meeting him personally on a couple of occasions and found him to be a man of very broad vision," Advani said.
